LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville park that has evolved to include a splash park for children, a walking path and most recently the Big Four Pedestrian Bridge was given an award on Wednesday.
Waterfront Park was one of five recipients of the Rudy Bruner Award Silver Medal Award for Urban Excellence.
The awards were given to projects based on economic, social and physical impacts they created in the city.
Bruner Foundation Director Anne-Marie Lubenau said, "I think Louisville is emblematic of so many cities in being and making the reconnection of the waterfront and the city. What we heard consistently through our visit here was the role the park plays in bringing the community together."
As part of the award Waterfront Park officials received a $10,000 check to put toward making future improvements to the park.
