LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An overnight fire in south Louisville damaged a home and the only family member present is safe.
The fire broke out in the 900 block of Denmark Street near Taylor Boulevard and the Watterson. No one was home except a small dog that was rescued from the flames and is doing fine.
Firefighters said a neighbor called them just after 2:30 a.m. and said the home next door was on fire and it was spreading to his home.
Operations Chief Jeff Botner said they were able to keep the fire from spreading to the inside of the neighboring houses, but it did burn the exterior and caused extensive damage of the back of the building that caught fire.
It took firefighters about 15 minutes to get the blaze under control.
