Two houses damaged by fire in Portland neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Two vacant houses in Louisville's Portland neighborhood were damaged during a fire Monday night.

According to MetroSafe, the house caught fire around 9:20 p.m. in the 2700 block of West Market Street.

When fire crews arrived on the scene they reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the building.

The assistant fire chief said the house that caught fire was a vacant one story home and crews are considering it a total loss. A vacant two story home next door was also damaged during the blaze.

No injuries have been reported. Arson investigators are on the scene trying to determine the cause of the fire.
