LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The driver of a car is being treated for injuries after his vehicle was hit by a train.
The accident happened at a railroad crossing on Stone Lakes Drive north of Taylorsville Road just before 7:30 p.m. Louisville Metro Police said the Norfolk Southern train hit the car, which was trying to turn around on the tracks.
The car's driver, a man in his 50s, was the only person hurt in the accident. The extent of his injuries is not known. Police believe he had become lost in the area.
Jeffersontown firefighters were called to help remove the injured man from the vehicle. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with injuries said to be non-life threatening.
Following the rescue, the train was allowed to continue on its route.
