LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville man was arrested Monday for trying to sell stolen meat, according to police.

An officer spotted Anthony O. Davis, 50, walking down the street at 26th and Elliott Streets, drinking an open bottle of gin and carrying a bag of bacon he was trying to sell.

Police said Davis smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech and became belligerent when the officer approached him.

Police said they found three packages of Kroger and Wright bacon in a bag Davis was carrying. There was no receipt. Officers contacted Kroger and were told that Davis left the store without purchasing the bacon, which was valued at $43.27.

Davis is charged with theft by unlawful taking, alcohol intoxication in a public place and drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public place.
