LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The DeSales High School football team has a lot to celebrate after winning the 2-A Kentucky State Football Championship.
Friday night before the tip off of DeSales vs Holy Cross basketball game, the Colts are celebrating with the help of Mayor Greg Fischer. Metro Council honored them for their first ever state title.
Representative John Yarmuth took the DeSales praise to the house floor honoring the Colts with a speech before Congress.
"The debate over the best Colt's team will continue back home, but there's no question this year's team now stands at the top," Yarmuth explained. "They might have been outsized, but never outmatched or outplayed."
Yarmuth also gave a shout out to Coach Harold Davis who not only leads the team, but played for DeSales in the 80s.
