LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A severely injured dog from eastern Kentucky had to be airlifted into Louisville to undergo surgery to save its front legs Friday night.

The flight was arranged after Arrow Fund volunteer Mark Powers contacted pilot Rick Erwin, who donated his time and used his plane to fly the dog from Pikeville to Bowman Field in Louisville.

After landing the dog was taken to the Blue Pearl Animal Hospital from the airport.

Volunteers named the setter mix Cessna after the plane used to rescue him.
