LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A U.S. Postal Service employee is accused of driving a postal truck while intoxicated.
A witness told police the vehicle was weaving all over the roadway and not stopping at red lights around 5:40 p.m. Saturday. An officer located the vehicle on Preston Highway and found 59-year-old Edward Willard behind the wheel, according to an arrest report. The vehicle was in both lanes of traffic. Citizens were at the truck attempting to talk to Willard, the officer said.
The report states Willard was incoherent, confused and could not follow directions. He attempted to drive off after stating that everything was fine.
Willard gave the officer consent to retrieve a Diet Mountain Dew bottle and water bottles that were inside the vehicle. The officer said the water bottles contained vodka.
Willard failed a field sobriety test. He is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
