LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Several streets were blocked off and the Louisville Metro Police Department SWAT Team was called after a man barricaded himself inside of an Old Louisville home Wednesday night.
According to LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell, 9:30 p.m. officers were called on a report of a domestic dispute in the 1300 block of South 3rd Street.
When officers arrived at the home they said they could hear a woman inside the home yelling, saying she was being hurt. The officers tried to gain entry into the home but were unsuccessful.
Mitchell said the man inside the home refused to come out and indicted he had a weapon. At that time the SWAT Team was called to assist the officers.
Around 11 p.m. the man surrendered peacefully and was taken into police custody.
The woman who was inside the home was uninjured. Mitchell said the two people involved did know each other, but their relationship is unclear at the time.
Police have not released the identity of the man. Mitchell said charges against the man are pending. LMPD detectives are continuing to investigate the case.
