JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - They're always on call making split second decisions, but when Jeffersonville's SWAT team needed additional funding for training - a quick service restaurant answered their call.
Hardee's is donating 10% of the restaurant's sales to Jeffersonville's SWAT team.
The fundraiser will last from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 15.
"We can't thank Hardee's enough for their support for our team," Lt Col Greg Sumler said.
Money from the fundraiser will help pay for Jeffersonville's force to compete in the Indiana SWAT Challenge.
"For us, it's a great team building tool. There's a lot of scenarios that are thrown at you that you don't always get an opportunity to train on. Our city council and mayor do their best, but budgets are tight. And this kind of stuff helps offset the costs so it's just great thing for us and our team," Sumler said, who's also the city's Assistant Police Chief.
Hardee's manager Noe Beltran said the restaurant hopes to raise several thousand dollars during the fundraiser. "We're aiming pretty high - we'd like to bring in $5,000 for them. No matter what, 10% of our sales will benefit the SWAT team today," Beltran said.
