Showdown winner to ride on Kentucky's rails

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The rivalry between the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville is heating up on the railroad.

Paducah and Louisville Railway has two locomotives that are wearing the colors of the Cats and Cards. One is painted UK blue commemorating their 2012 national championship; the other is UofL red and marks the 2013 NCAA championship.

Once we know the outcome of the game the painted locomotive of the winner will lead a P&L train throughout the Commonwealth until the two teams play again on the football field in the fall.

"The whole idea is just to celebrate all that basketball is in Louisville," said Bonnie Hackbarth, a spokesperson for P&L Railway. "Now they decked out the train a couple of years ago when UK won and then they went ahead and decorated the UofL train last year and we've got these trains so why not have some fun with it.

The locomotives will be positioned nose to nose at the P&L rail yard in Louisville until the game is over.
