While working on house, man steals $2,700 worth of jewelry

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Scottsburg man is accused of stealing over $2,000 worth of jewelry in 2010.

According to an arrest warrant, Brian Leep, 29, was doing work at the victim's home. Without the victim's knowledge, Leep stole jewelry. When the victim realized his property was missing, he contacted the contractor who had subcontracted the job.

When he was confronted, Leep admitted to taking the jewelry and selling it to Turner Jewelry Store in Austin, Indiana. Leep gave the money he received to the victim and the jewelry store returned the belongings.

Leep is charged with theft by unlawful taking.
