ST. MATTHEWS, KY (WAVE) – Police are searching for the persons who went on a shopping spree at an electronics store after closing time.

According to Sgt. Dennis McDonald of the St. Matthews Police Department, the thefts happened at the Best Buy in the 5000 block of Shelbyville Road near the Watterson Expressway (I-264) on May 30.

McDonald said the four suspects got inside by prying through a steel door in the rear of the store near the loading docks around 1 a.m.

The men, who appear to be part of an organized ring, had their own large blue bin to load the merchandise. McDonald said they were in an out of the store in just three minutes with nearly $100,000 in cell phones and mobile devices.

There were two employees inside the store at the time. They called 911 while barricading themselves in a safe location of the store.

Surveillance video shows the suspects left in three vehicles – a tan minivan and two dark-colored SUVs
