Murdoch said a preliminary investigation showed Avery Blevens shot Marion Blevens multiple times using a .22 long rifle, then turned the gun on himself.

Family members told police the Avery Blevens suffered a stroke a few years ago that affected him mentally and had recently put a strain on couple's marriage.

The sheriff's office did not have records of calls from the residence regarding domestic problems involving the Blevens.

Police did said they investigated the same home about 30 years ago, before this couple moved in, after a dispute involving another family ended in murder.
