LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Sadness lingers across the University of Louisville campus one day after a student and member of the cheerleading squad was found dead.

The body of Dani Cogswell, 22, was discovered around 9 a.m. July 28 yesterday inside her off-campus apartment at Cardinal Towne. Louisville Metro Police homicide detectives and UofL police are conducting a joint investigation, but do not suspect foul play in Cogswell's death.

Todd Sharp, the head spirit coordinator at UofL, said Cogswell was not only a beautiful person on the outside, but she was also beautiful inside. Sharp called Cogswell an elite athlete and a vital part of Card Nation.

"Once the kids got their breathe back, they were immediately talking about us dedicating our season to Dani," said Sharp. "And many of the kids made the comment that they were going to be their personal best as students, and as athletes and as friends in Dani's memory."

Counselors are being provided for students and staff members who knew Cogswell.
