Meat-wrapped razor blade kills dog; neighbor admits to crime
ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) – Police say an Elizabethtown man admitted to throwing a meat-wrapped razor blade into a neighbor's yard, resulting in the death of their dog.
According to The News-Enterprise, James Stotts, the animal's owner, saw one of his dogs eating a piece of meat, but removed it from the dog's mouth and discovered a razor blade inside.
Stotts and his wife, Kathy, then searched their backyard and found two more pieces of Canadian bacon, one containing part of a razor blade and another with small nails.
The family called police to make an animal cruelty report. When police walked next door to the home of Robert Hamme, 60, to warn him about the meat, Hamme admitted to throwing it over the fence into the Stotts' yard.
The family's 14-year-old beagle mix, Nibbles, died from a blockage in the intestine. Stotts says Nibbles was a part of their family and will be missed dearly.
Hamme was known in the neighborhood for complaining about dogs barking. He is being charged with torture of a dog with serious physical injury or death and first-offense torture of a dog.
