1 dead, 1 injured in incident involving SUV crashing into business
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man is dead and a woman was rushed to an area hospital with critical injuries after an incident that ended with a vehicle hitting a building near Poplar Level Road.
A preliminary investigation showed around 9:50 p.m. Monday the woman, who was driving a black Mercury Mountaineer, was being followed on the Watterson Expressway by a man driving a silver Nissan Altima, Louisville Metro Police Department spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.
Witnesses told officers the vehicles got off the expressway and the woman drove through the parking lot and a fence on the Frisch's Big Boy property, located at 1710 Lincoln Avenue, then she continued to drive until she hit the garage doors of Franck Bros. Body Shop, located at 1709 Lincoln Avenue.
Mitchell said the woman was taken to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The LMPD Homicide Unit is investigating. Mitchell said whether or not the man and woman knew each other is a part of their investigation.
