LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A plea from an animal rescue group in Louisville comes after one of their puppies was stolen from an adoption event on Sunday.

The puppy is an 8-week-old beagle mix named Huckleberry. Derby City Dog Rescue says someone stole him around 4:00 on Sunday at their adoption event, Mutts @ Mike's at Mike Linnig's off Cane Run Road.

Mutts @ Mike's has been organized to increase awareness of dogs waiting to be adopted, help recruit volunteers to foster dogs and/or adopt dogs and donate time and money to rescue organizations.

Organizers say the event was an overall success, except for this sad incident.

Derby City Dog Rescue is asking for Huckleberry to be returned. They say the person responsible can take him to Dixie Animal Hospital between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday or contact them at 502-322-6681.
