Louisville prepares to welcome 2014 FFA convention

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - In one month thousands of blue coats will take over Louisville as the FFA Convention and Expo returns.

More than 60,000 FFA members from across the United States are expected at this event at the Kentucky Exposition Center from October 29 to November 1.

The convention will bring an estimated impact of $40 million, making it the largest convention for Louisville this year.

Throughout the week the student will take part in more than 85 personal growth and leadership workshops and visit agri-businesses around town.

"The theme for this convention is go all out," said Brian Walsh, National FFA President, "we hope to inspire students from across the country who come to Louisville to give everything that they have to this convention, to this organization and the industry of agriculture."

The students will also give back to the community working 16,000 hours of community service.
