LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A vacant Black Leaf Chemical warehouse located behind the former Coca Cola Bottling Co. in Louisville's Park Hill neighborhood caught fire Saturday night.

Louisville Fire & Rescue Lt. Col. Carroll Haueter said heavy black smoke was reported coming from the building located between Dixie Highway and 15th Street around 7 p.m.

When fire crews arrived on the scene Haueter said they found heavy fire on the first floor in the center of the building. The fire spread to the second floor but crews were able to fight the fire defensively and no firefighters entered the building.

No injuries were reported.

Haueter said due to the contaminated soil the health department was notified but the fire did not pose a health risk to residents who live in the area.

Arson investigators were called to determine the cause of the fire.
