LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - WAVE 3 News anchor Dawne Gee underwent surgery for kidney cancer on Thursday, Oct. 30, and doctors told her family it could not have gone any better.

Dawne announced earlier in the week that she had been diagnosed with a slow-growing renal cell carcinoma, requiring her to have about one-third of one of her kidneys removed.

Knowing that many viewers will want to do something to help during her recovery, Dawne asked that the public support the Spread the Gloves campaign, which provides gloves, scarves and other winter wear for Shields of Faith and children who attend Jefferson County Public Schools, Greater Clark County Schools, New Albany Floyd County Schools and Clarksville Schools. Donations will be accepted through November 10. For more information about Spread the Gloves, including drop-off sites, click here.
