Fern Creek Fire Dept. Major dies

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A 31-year veteran of the Fern Creek Fire Department has died.
Chief Mike Schmidt confirmed Major Malcolm Jenkins died Thursday, Oct. 30 of an apparent heart attack on his way home from his shift.
Jenkins joined the department as a volunteer in 1983 and served as the departments training officer at the time of his death.
Visitation for Jenkins will be held on Monday, Nov. 3 at the Fern Creek Funeral Home from noon until 8 p.m.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Burnett Avenue Baptist Church at 11 a.m.
