FRANKFORT, KY (WAVE) - Kentucky has decided its $18 million commitment to a religious-themed Noah's Ark theme park blurred the line between church and state.

On Dec. 10, the state announced it was withdrawing its tax incentive to the Creation Museum to build the park, which would feature a 500-foot-long wooden ark.

Kentucky's tourism secretary said the project had evolved from a tourism attraction into an outreach for the Christian ministry that's building it.

The ark project got preliminary approval in July for up to $18 million in tax rebates.
