LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A new neighborhood bar in Jeffersontown is focused around one thing: Bacon.

Ann Marie's Bacon Bar recently opened on Taylorsville Road. On Tuesday, the restaurant was so busy they had to close early because they didn't have enough food. The owner said it's been a hectic but good first week.

"This is a dream come true," said owner Ann Marie Dunlap, who added that opening a restaurant centered around bacon is something she wanted to bring to Louisville for years.

"There are so many other bacon restaurants, there's one in Vegas, Chicago, New York," said Dunlap.

It's a trend she hopes will take off in the Bluegrass.

Dunlap describes her restaurant as southern farm to table.

"We will have our classic pork bacon, which we will do several different ways. Two of them I'm actually curing and smoking in house," said Dunlap. "One is an applewood, one is a hickory-smoked."

The menu also offers entrees and sandwiches with turkey, beef and duck bacon.

"We snap our green beans, we make homemade biscuits, we shake our own butter. Everything is from scratch," said Dunlap, who has a degree in business and says she has always loved to cook. Most of her menu items are family favorites.

"It's fun to take those recipes from home and the heart and share them with everybody," said Dunlap.

The restaurant is open to people of all ages. It features a game room, patio and a space for private parties. Dunlap said their hours currently vary because they are waiting for their liquor license, which they should get at any time.
