According to fire officials, a resident in a first floor condo was boiling eggs on the stove when the pan caught fire. The resident attempted to put out the fire himself. Firefighters say that caused a delay in them being notified.
Two of the people injured in the fire were taken to University of Louisville Hospital. The third person was taken to Baptist Health East.
It took just over an hour for 45 firefighters from at least five departments to fight the 3 alarm fire.
Eight units in the main fire building are said to be a total loss. The building's firewall kept the flames from spreading to the other eight units. However, those units did suffer from smoke damage.
