LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A former Louisville Metro Police Department narcotics detective has been found guilty of driving under the influence and not guilty of wanton endangerment stemming from a Sept. 4, 2012 shooting.
The jury made the ruling in Chauncey Carthan's trial Thursday evening.
According to police, Carthan was in his police cruiser when he was involved in a confrontation with Ishmael Gough in another car near 24th and Chestnut Streets. Both men got out of their vehicles and Carthan fired one shot, police said. Gough, who was shot in the leg, was not armed, according to police. He was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for his injury and released.
Cathan was fined $500.
