LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police say SWAT officers were at the front door of a home preparing to execute a search warrant Thursday night when a man inside the home shot at them with a handgun.

Rohmel L. Ross, 22, is charged with six counts of attempted murder of a police officer. When officers entered the building, located in the 600 block of S. 35th Street, they were able to take Ross into custody without any further incident. He was arrested around 10:30 p.m.

According to an arrest report for Ross, the officers had identified themselves as police several times before Ross shot at them with a Glock 22 pistol.

During the search officers also found an AK-47, suspected crack cocaine, large bags of marijuana, digital scales and assorted drug paraphernalia, the report says.

In addition to the attempted murder charges, Ross faces several drug and gun charges.
