Ice blamed for semi crash that closed I-65N between exits 58 and 65 in Hart Co.
HART COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - Slick road conditions are blamed for a tractor trailer crash that shut down northbound Interstate 65 between exits 58 and 65 on Wednesday.
According to a news release from Kentucky State Police, the driver, Keith Thompson, 27, of Sewanee, TN, hit a patch of ice on the roadway and struck the guardrail with his front left bumper. He continued a distance before hitting the Green River Bridge. The truck came to rest partially on its side against the bridge rail.
Crews are on the scene tending to a diesel fuel leak from the collision and working to remove the vehicle.
The closure is expected to last more than four hours.
Northbound traffic is being detoured off I-65 at exit 58 in Horse Cave to US 31W where drivers can get back on I-65 at the 65 mile marker in Munfordville.
Thompson was transported by Hart County EMS to Caverna Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
