Elderly woman killed in hit-and-run near Bardstown Rd and Fegenbush Lane

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A pedestrian has died after being hit by a vehicle in the Buechel neighborhood, according to MetroSafe.

The hit-and-run accident happened near the intersection of Bardstown Road and Fegenbush Lane, around 7:45 p.m. Friday. Alicia Smiley, a spokeswoman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, said officers were flagged down by a witness who said an elderly woman was lying in the middle of the street.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Smiley said the vehicle involved likely has significant front end damage. Police hope to have a better description of the vehicle as the investigation progresses.

Fegenbush Lane was shut down just west of Bardstown Road during the investigation. Smiley estimated it would remain closed for a few hours.
