LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man accused of stabbing his foster father to death was found by officers on Friday with blood on his hands, Jeffersontown police said.

On Saturday, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as Stephen Dillard, 55.

Major Kenneth Hatmaker said Ronshai Jenefor, 21, was taken into custody Friday after Dillard, a Carrithers Middle School teacher, was found dead inside a home in the 8900 block of Thelma Lane.

The coroner said Dillard died of multiple stab wounds.

Police have been to the home many times before to deal with issues related to the troubled youth he took in over the years, Hatmaker said at a press conference Friday. Police responded to the home on March 13 after the victim's sister called 911 that morning.

Neighbors said only one young man had lived in the victim's home recently, and they provided police with his description and a description of his vehicle.

The vehicle was located at Parliament Square Apartments in Jeffersontown. Jenefor was found on the corner nearby. Police said he had recently moved back in with the victim after previously moving out.

Jenefor was booked into Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and charged with murder. At an arraignment hearing on Saturday, his bond was set at $100,000.

Police are continuing to investigate the case.
