LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The driver of the car that was hit by a train on Saturday has died, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.

A spokesman for Jefferson County Public Schools previously said all four were JCPS students.

The collision occurred at a railroad crossing near the intersection of Bardstown Road and Buechel Bank Road, according to dispatchers. Police said the car ran a signal and crossed into the path of the train, which was traveling at normal track speed - usually between 30 and 45 mph in that area.

Logan Bennett, who witnessed the collision, said, "It was the most devastating thing I've ever seen in my life."

He said the car was "pulverized," estimating that it was pushed a mile down the tracks.
