LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The building that once housed Kaelin's Restaurant, which claimed to be the birthplace of the cheeseburger, is going up for auction.

The building, located at 1801 Newburg Road, was most recently Mulligan's Pub and Grille. The 8,500 sq. ft. property, which consists of two connected brick buildings, will be sold with all restaurant, bar and coffee shop equipment included.

The auction will be held at the restaurant on May 14 at 12:30 p.m. The property will go to the highest bidder with no limitations on sale price. A two-story home next door, at 1811 Newburg Road, will be auctioned at the same time.

The property will be open for inspection on May 8 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. or by appointment.

The auction is being conducted by Jeff Sleadd, with the Louisville Realty Group, and Don Erler, an auctioneer with Sperry Van Ness Ward Commercial Group.
