Inspection notes inmate, staff morale up in Clark Co.

CLARK COUNTY, IN (WAVE) – The Clark County Sheriff is being applauded after a jail inspection showed significant improvements in leadership and operations. However, the report also notes there is still room for improvement.

The Indiana Department of Corrections released a 13 page report Thursday following an inspection of the Clark County Jail, run by Sheriff Jamey Noel and his staff.

While many improvements were noted, the report also cited potential staffing shortages that are currently under review.

Kenneth J. Whipker, who inspected the jail commented at the end of the report stating:

"2015 vast improvement in staff and inmate morale. This is very noticeable based upon past inspections. Complements to the Sheriff and his jail staff for making the changes needed from a leadership and operations standpoint."
