BRECKINRIDGE COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - A couple who lives "off the grid" in Breckinridge County spent hours in a courtroom trying to regain custody of their 10 children Monday.

Child Protective Services removed the children from Joe and Nicole Naugler's custody last week.

The son of Joe Naugler was also at the hearing. Alex Brow, 19, said he was abused as a child by his father.

Alex Brow told WAVE 3 News he was removed from Joe's custody when he was 4 and a half years old. He was placed in a loving home, he said, and had not seen his father until Monday's hearing. He currently lives out of state, but said he's worried about his siblings, adding that he hopes they haven't been abused.

It's not clear if the 10 children were taken away from the Nauglers. They walked out of the courtroom without talking to reporters.

Their attorney, Rick Hardin, also would not confirm what happened in court. Because the case involves minors, it's not public record. The sheriff also could not say what happened.

Nicole posted on her Facebook page a request that her supporters assemble in front of the courthouse, but no one showed up Monday.
