LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The search continues for a killer two years after a Bardstown police officer was ambushed.

Just as on the one year anniversary of his death, loved ones lined Exit 34 off the Bluegrass Parkway with lights. They drove to the spot where Ellis was killed, shot as he cleared debris from the road.

For his brother in law, coming back to the spot has been difficult. He said he still feels uneasy driving through the spot where Jason lost his life.

"Just too, I don't know, too emotional, too eerie, you know, to look on top of the hill and right here and know that that where the killer was and just cold-heartedly sat there and waited for him," Nathan Phillips said.

The group then joined back together at Highview Cemetery where Ellis rests. They placed more lights in the shape of a heart surrounding his grave.

Earlier this week, Kentucky State Police released a video on YouTube asking for people to come forward with information on the officer's death.
