LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Crews have capped a natural gas leak that prompted the evacuation of several homes in the Rock Creek-Lexington Road area of Louisville this morning.
Louisville and St. Matthews firefighters were called to the 400 block of Cornell Place at 10:04 a.m. after a crew doing utility work on a water line ruptured a 4" gas line. Firefighters briefly evacuated approximately 40 people from nearby homes and businesses while LG&E crews worked to cap the leak.
Natural gas to some homes and businesses was shut off during the incident. A pamphlet was left at the affected homes warning them not to attempt to light it themselves, but to call LG&E.
