LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man awaiting trial on murder charges is now facing another charge that he had someone destroy evidence connected to the case.
Henry Richard Gleaves II, 20, of Louisville, was arrested on Jan. 12. He is charged with the murder of Sherman Edwards, Jr., 20, of Indianapolis.
On the morning of Jan. 9, Edwards was found in the parking lot of the Fern Valley Hotel and Convention Center suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest.
During a call made from a recorded line at Louisville Metro Corrections on Jan. 12, Gleaves instructed two women to get rid of evidence - a cell phone - related to the murder. During the call, one woman, Zsanaza Duffy, 20, said Gleaves she had already destroyed the evidence. In an interview with detectives on June 30, Duffy admitted to disposing of the cell phone.
Duffy was arrested for tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana. Police said she had a small amount of marijuana in her purse when she was placed under arrest.
Gleaves remains in jail on a $500,000 cash bond. Duffy will be back in court on July 27
