LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Thanks to the sharp eyes of a witness, Louisville Metro police have arrested the suspect in a burglary case.
According to his arrest report, Virgil Childress, 32, was arrested within two hours of committing the crime.
Around 5:40 p.m. Aug. 3, officers were called to the 100 block of S. 29th Street. The caller said a man wearing camouflage pants and hat running away from a home carrying a backpack. Police found a basement window had been broken out in the home.
While on patrol, officers later saw Childress walking in the 500 block of N. 31 Street wearing clothing matching the description given by the original caller. After Childress was detained by police the witness was able to identify him as the person running from the burglarized home.
Childress is charged with one count of burglary and remains at Louisville Metro Corrections. During his arraignment bond was set at $5,000 cash. His next court date is Aug. 14.
