Suspect in home invasion robbery arrested

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A suspect has been arrested in a burglary and robbery case during which the victims were hit with baseball bats.

According to Louisville Metro police, Drew Alexander Bratcher, 21, of Louisville, was one of the men who committed the crime.

Police said on Aug. 2, Bratcher and his partner entered the victim's home and awakened the sleeping couple while standing over their bed holding the bats. Both men, who had their faces covered, struck their victims and asked "where is the money" and "where is the drugs."

During a struggle, Bratcher and his partner lost the coverings over their faces and were recognized by the couple as two people who they knew and had been at their home earlier.

After dumping out the purse of the female victim, taking $80, both men fled before police arrived. officers later found the car Bratcher and his partner left in abandoned with the clothing and baseball bats inside the vehicle.

Bratcher is being held on a $20,000 cash bond at Louisville Metro Corrections.

The arrest warrant says the male victim suffered injuries to his knee caps, possible broken toes and contusions to his back and legs. Injuries to the female victim were described as minor.
