LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man is facing multiple charges of wanton endangerment after officers found that he left his five young children at home alone.

Around 8:25 p.m. Aug. 9, Louisville Metro police officers were sent to the 1200 block of Fisk Court in the Russell neighborhood after MetroSafe received a 911 hangup call from the residence. Police found the children, all under the age of 6, unattended by an adult and living in conditions described as "deplorable."

According to police, an eight month old was crawling on the floor which the report says contained "broken glass, medication, dog feces, food, trash and dirty clothes."

The children's father, Dominquie A. Nance, 26, was arrested when he returned. Nance said he didn't understand what the issue was because he had just around the corner at the store.
