LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Changes have been made to the Food Port project in the Russell neighborhood following outcry from neighbors.

Seed Capital Kentucky, the nonprofit developer submitted a revised development plan Thursday. As part of the plan the controversial methane digester was removed.

Mayor Greg Fischer said the important part to him is turning the idea into reality.

"Let's stop here, lets really understand what's going on here better and see where the future takes us. But biodigestors are very common all over the country," he said.

The venture aims to create jobs and help farmers, teachers, startups and retailers by taking food from the field and distributing it into the neighborhoods.
