Mayor looks to break world record on Labor Day

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Labor Day tradition will once again take place at Waterfront Park.

Mayor Greg Fischer announced Friday the 22nd Subway Fresh Hike, Bike and Paddle will take place Monday, Sept. 7.

The event brings thousands of people on bikes, canoes, kayaks and those who just want to walk to Waterfront Park and Ohio River every year. This year Fischer is hoping to set a world record.

"What we're trying to do is break a world record with a Guinness World Record for the most paddlers in a lot. Ok, so I'm calling on all of our paddlers in the community," Fischer said.

Also back for another year is WorldFest. The event is promoted as the nation's largest international festival.  WorldFest will also be held over the Labor Day weekend at Louisville's Belvedere from Sept. 4 through 7.
