LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An off-duty Louisville Metro Police officer hit a pedestrian while driving a police cruiser Monday night, according to LMPD.

It happened downtown near the intersection of 5th Street and Broadway around 9:30 p.m.

The officer was making a right turn onto Broadway from 5th when he did not see a man crossing the street and hit the pedestrian, said Dwight Mitchell, LMPD spokesman.

Emergency crews took the man to University of Louisville Hospital, where he is being treated for minor injuries.

It is not known if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk. LMPD is investigating the accident.

No charges are expected to be filed.
