LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The American Red Cross Louisville area chapter held a re-dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for its Military Emergency Communications Center Friday.
The center is one of only three across the world and is used to help serve members of the military and their families.
"We live in a state that leads the nation and maybe the world in terms of the support of the citizens toward people in uniform," said Maj. Gen. Edward Tonini. "This center certainly addresses people in uniform."
To help better serve members of the military the Red Cross will introduce an online self-service that allows members of the military and their families to request assistance with a click of the button.
Since 9/11, the Red Cross has served more than 1 million members of the military.
