LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A dancer who got her start right here in WAVE country more than a decade ago is now giving back.

Leslie Cuyjet graduated from YPAS, the Youth Performing Arts School, in 1999.

She's been dancing in New York for more than 10 years, touring with different groups, doing her own work, music videos and more.

She won an alumni competition to choreograph a dance for current YPAS students.

She's been back here in Louisville teaching them and says it's wonderful to be in the same room again.

"It feels tremendous to come back here and to work with the students and know exactly where they are and hopefully where they're heading," Cuyjet said. "To know it played such a big role in my life and come and be a part of theirs is really interesting."

Things have changed since Cuyjet was a student at YPAS. She noted when she was a student, the dance room did not have air conditioning!
