3 charged with failed gas station robbery

COLUMBUS, IN (WAVE) - Three people are under arrest after the attempted robbery of a gas station in Columbus, Indiana.

According to Columbus police, the robbery attempt happened at 11:50 p.m. on Sept. 27 at a Marathon station in the 1100 block of Washington Street. A clerk told police a woman entered the store armed with a knife and demanded money. She fled empty-handed when the clerk refused to comply.

Video from a security camera installed nearby by the city showed the vehicle the woman was in was a white Oldsmobile. Around 3:30 a.m., a Columbus officer located a car matching the description parked on a lot and questioned the three people inside.

Police identified Rachael A. Roberts, 20, of Columbus, as being the person who entered the store with the knife. She is charged with attempted armed robbery and battery on a police officer.

The other occupants, Ashley D. Allman, 23, of Elizabethtown, Indiana, and Anthony S. Walker, 27, of Columbus were also arrested. Both were charged with assisting a criminal. Allman was also charged with disorderly conduct.

All were booked at the Bartholomew County Jail.
