VERSAILLES, KY (WAVE) - Kentucky Community and Technical College System has appointed Dr. Ty J. Handy as president of Jefferson Community and Technical College.

Handy most recently served as president of Northwest Florida State College since 2010. He has also served as president of Vermont Technical College, chancellor at Ivy Tech State College in Indiana and chief academic officer and dean for academic affairs at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.

KCTCS announced the appointment on Saturday.

"I'm honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead such an outstanding college," Handy said. "JCTC has a terrific faculty and staff and an actively engaged Board and Foundation Board. I'm looking for (sic) to working with them and meeting our students."

Handy earned a doctoral degree in higher education administration from the University of Memphis, a master's degree in business administration from Drexel University and a bachelor's degree in finance from Western Kentucky University.
