LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Fire crews responded to a home in the Wyandotte neighborhood on Tuesday morning.
Firefighters arrived to find the first and second floors of the home on fire.
A neighbor told firefighters there were three children in the home who needed to be rescued. Crews searched the house and didn't find anyone. They later learned that the mother and children were on vacation in Florida. The father was working in Elizabethtown at the time.
The fire caused extensive damage to the home before it was put out.
Lieutenant Colonel Carroll Hunter said the home is a total loss.
