. - LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Forget Paul Ryan or any of the other more well known GOP names in the U.S. House of Representatives. There's a clear choice for the next Speaker of the House according to Thomas Massie.
The 4th District Congressman strongly supports Daniel Webster of Florida.
Massie told WAVE 3 News anchor Scott Reynolds that Webster isn't as conservative as many members of the House, including Massie himself. But he
believes Webster's experience as Speaker in the Florida House proves he's the right man for the job.
"He really turned it from dysfunction into function and that's what we need to do in the House of Representatives," Massie said.
Massie also refutes the many reports that blame a small wing of the most conservative members of the House for Boehner's resignation.
"The reality is, it's a lot more than forty or sixty members of Congress that were dissatisfied with his leadership," Massie claimed. "He had been subverting the committee Chairmen and just brought legislation straight to the floor without allowing it to go through the committee."
Massie represents the East End of Jefferson County and Oldham County and most of the region going toward Cincinnati.
He spent Tuesday evening at a Farm Bureau event in Greenup County.
