Man charged in home invasion; victim bound with duct tape

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A LaRue County man is facing charges after police responding to a reported home invasion found him outside the house.

On the afternoon of Oct. 16, Louisville Metro police were called to a home in the 1900 block of Elmore Avenue and discovered a man bound with duct tape. Officers found Nicholas Gerwitz, 19, of Hodgenville, KY, in the front yard of the home where the victim was located.

A second person was also arrested after a short foot chase. Metro police said Gerwitz confessed to his involvement in the crime and told police the other man arrested was also involved.

Gerwitz is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a burglary charge. His bond is set at $25,000 cash.

WAVE 3 News has been unable to locate charges against the second person listed in the home invasion case.
